Susan Hourihan, Instructor of Practitioners, began her Initial Level Orton-Gillingham training in 2006, graduating in 2007. Over the next two years, she continued with the Advanced Level Orton-Gillingham training while tutoring students at the Children’s Dyslexia Centers – Seacoast Learning Center in Rochester. She became a supervisor, Level 1 trainer, and therapist. Over the past five years, she has been the lead trainer in the Center’s school-based Orton-Gillingham collaboration that trains and certifies area teachers. Susan also has a thriving tutoring practice. She graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation. Susan lives in Maine with her husband and three adult children. Susan is the current president of IDA-NNEA.
