Ingrid PorterInstructor of Practitioners/Supervisor

Ingrid Porter began her journey as a dyslexia tutor in 2014, when she studied as an Initial tutor at the Seacoast Learning Center. The experience was so profound that she continued as an Advanced tutor, then progressed to the Supervisor level and became an Initial Level trainer of tutors. She is currently completing her Therapy level training at the center.

In 2017, Ingrid followed her passion, leaving an almost 30-year career as a sixth-grade teacher, to work with striving readers at the high school level. When not listening to podcasts about the history of the English language, this self-avowed word nerd can be found taking walks, watching birds, gardening, playing card and board games, admiring Native American art and culture, and what else- reading!

Ingrid received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education at the University of Maine, Farmington. She studied abroad for a semester at Stirling University in Scotland, and has taken part in many educational opportunities, including courses in education of the gifted, performing action research in science education through the Maine Math and Science Alliance, and training in Denver, Colorado with Cris Tovani.
